Hotel Manager - Mafia Island Marine Park
Pole Pole Bungalows is a small, up-market, eco-friendly beach hotel, with a reputation for its cuisine, tailor made service and marine activities. The hotel is located in Mafia Island Marine Park, Tanzania.

Pole Pole Bungalows is recruiting for a management position (couples are also welcome to apply). A previous work experience in East Africa (preferably in Tanzania) is mandatory.

After a successful probationary period of three months, we will offer a two years contract, the applicant should therefore commit for a total of 27 months.

The Company will provide work permit, food/accommodation and other benefits.

It is mandatory:

  • An excellent command of English (knowledge of Swahili and/or at least another major international language is an important plus)
  • very good computer skills including standard knowledge of Microsoft Office, cloud services (e. g. Dropbox) and on line project management platforms (e. g. Basecamp)
  • excellent social and customer care skills including the ability to entertain guests, plan activities, cope with special requests and handle issues appropriately
  • a calm, patient and cooperative personality

  • should have the ability to work autonomously, a problem solving attitude and the capacity to live in an isolated location that poses logistical challenges
  • will be required to report to and coordinate with the managing directors who do not reside on the island.
  • must be able to work effectively in a team with different backgrounds, to establish and nurture a cooperative atmosphere and to manage field staff through training and capacity building
  • must be able to cooperate positively with the Company's partners and have strong communication skills.
  • should posses logistic and organization skills
  • must be able to maintain and improve the standards of services and facilities
Preferred applicants

  • have a background or strong interest in cuisine, wellness, nature and sea activities
  • have a hands-on approach

Beautiful Lodge set amongst an Acacia Forest just 5 minutes’ drive from Lake Manyara and 2 hours’ drive from Arusha on the edge of the Great Rift Valley are looking for a very special Lodge Manager.

 The Position

Someone who is capable of:

  • Handling all guest related activities

  • Manage the day to day logistics of a busy lodge

  • Prepared to do field work with live animals and be conversant with Butterfly’s and birdlife.

Our client is looking for someone a bit out of the ordinary who will cast their own special magic to ensure the lodge retains its casual, friendly and uniquely Tanzanian flavour. The lodge lives in total harmony with the local people from where they source their staff, purchase their produce and who hand make much of their furniture.

The position includes

Live-in accommodation, including meals

A 2-Year contract – extendable if mutually agreed to.

1 day off/week or 4 days/month.

  • Previous Lodge Management experience, and probably in East Africa

  • The successful candidate will probably be a female (but that’s not cast in stone). It could possibly even be a couple.

  • Have some formal hospitality qualification.

  • Have an affinity for and knowledge of animals - especially the smaller creatures, butterfly’s and birds

  • Be an all-rounder and a jack-of-all-trades.

  • Have an infectious personality, a love of life, a cheerful outlook and a positive attitude.

Camp Manager - Ruaha National Park, Tanzania
Mwagusi safari camp in Ruaha National Park is looking for a camp manager who is able to run all the aspects of a safari camp operation. The office is on the camp premises in a beautiful and well located setting. The manager will be involved in the day-to-day running of the office which includes the accounting, booking system, invoicing clients and tour operators, taxing, and analysing monthly financials. In addition they will oversee catering, housekeeping, supplies and orders, all logistics, hosting and activities co-ordination. They will assist the other managers with General Maintenance, workshop and the Guide School. They will be in charge of Human Resources and oversee a team of up to 40 staff. The manager needs to be a highly flexible individual who is good with numbers and financials but also creative and dynamic - one who can take the initiative and complete tasks, who is well organised, can manage staff very well and who has experience in hosting a high end international clientèle. The company will provide the necessary paperwork in order to obtain a work permit if the applicants is a non-Tanzanian citizen. The commitment requested is for at least two seasons. Shorter commitments will not be considered.

The skills required for this position will be evaluated on the base of the references produced. Financial/accounting, (Pastel experience an advantage) and or office administration experience necessary as well as proficiency with spreadsheets. Staff management and organisation skills also required.
Applicants must have at least than two years experience in managing a camp or lodge.
