The Front Office Manager is tasked with making sure that the Front Office - the place where guests first come into contact with the lodge and staff - runs smoothly and effectively.

Salary R12 500 to R15 000 Live in

Job Description:

  • Operate the front desk on a shift to shift basis as directed by the General Manager
  • Ensure a high level of product knowledge for the Property, the daily happenings in the Lodge as well as the local area
  • Ensure that all guests receive a fast, efficient, professional and friendly check-in and check-out at the front desk
  • All customer queries and requests are to be handled in a polite and efficient manner thereby maintaining a consistently high level of customer service
  • Ensure that a high level of communication and liaison is maintained between Front Office and all other departments within the hotel
  • Make certain that the Front Office Manager and the Shift Manager are kept fully aware of any relevant feedback from either the customer or other departments
  • Excellent communication skills and great command of the English language
  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed for interaction with guests, colleagues and suppliers
  • Must have a pro-active mindset and be able to exercise initiative
  • A highly resilient individual
  • Eye for detail


Skills/Requirements:
  • Managing and training the Front Office staff
  • Ensuring the front desk provides a professional and friendly service for guests
  • Dealing with guests
  • Arranging staff scheduling
  • Acting as liaison between General Manager and staff
  • The Front Office is the area of the hotel where guests form their first and last impressions of the lodge - this makes it really important for the Front Office Manager to work hard to create a pleasant experience for guests to ensure their return.
Qualifications and skills

  • Matriculation certificate (or the equivalent)
  • A Hotel Diploma would be an added advantage
  • Must be computer literate
  • Previous experience within Front Office
Work Cycle and Benefits:

  • 6 Weeks on 2 weeks off

  • Attendance of all HOD meetings.
  • You are required to deal with and follow up on all issues raised at the HOD morning meeting pertaining to your department.
  • Feedback on previous day's business; stock requisitions; complimentary drinks dockets for signatures and present to stock controller for issues.
  • Collect welcome cards; weather cards; bedtime stories; serviettes.
  • Back at your camp check all issues against your pre-list (and return list to stock controller by next morning).
  • Stock up bar as per SOP.
  • Feedback to all staff on relevant issues raised at HOD meeting and information regarding departure and arrival times of guests.
  • Inspect garden areas.
  • Report any challenges and follow up!
  • Check on public areas and breakfast prep.
  • Check that duties are performed as per check lists.
  • Pre-prep for breakfast ready by first ETA call.
  • Breakfast set-up complete by second ETA call. Prepare hot/cold towels depending on weather.
  • Check on rooms for new arrivals.
  • Oversee lunch prep. Assist with lunch service.
  • Be on standby for late arrivals.
  • Check dinner set-up.
  • Check that all bills are correctly presented and signed.
Sous Chef

  • Motivated, creative and enthusiastic about their job.
  • An outgoing personality with excellent guest contact skills.
  • Able to adapt to dietary needs and requirements.
  • Ability to keep up to date with current food trends.
  • A talented individual with a high level of integrity and communicator at all levels.
  • Computer knowledge.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to be flexible at all times, considering the location and environment he/she is working in.
  • Must be a Team Player.

Lodge Manager

Qualifications

  • Matric Certificate or similar
  • Diploma / degree in a hospitality related field
  • Experience in a 4 or 5-star environment

Sous Chef

Qualifications

  • Grade 12/ Matric
  • Formal culinary qualification
  • 1. 5 - 3 years' Sous Chef experience
  • Valid drivers' licence and own transport
  • Previous experience in a 4 / 5* hospitality environment
  • Up to date with current food trends
